Jimmy Childers is a firefighter, paramedic, and founder of Still on Scene, an organization dedicated to improving first responder mental health through education, peer support, and organizational culture change.
With nearly two decades of experience in emergency services, Jimmy understands both the visible demands of the profession and the invisible toll repeated trauma can take on those who answer the call.
After confronting PTSD in his own career, he
committed himself to helping first responders recognize operational stress injuries, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and build healthier organizations where asking for help is viewed as strength rather than weakness.
His presentations combine authentic personal experience with practical, evidence-informed strategies that attendees can
immediately apply within their departments, agencies, and personal lives.

OUR MISSION:
Still On Scene exists to change the way public safety talks about, responds to, and supports mental health.
Our mission is to help first responders understand what repeated exposure to trauma can do to us, recognize when we may still be carrying calls long after they are over, and know what resources are available before reaching a breaking point.
We want to help build a culture where peer support is normal.
leadership understands its responsibility to its people.
families understand what can come home from the job.
asking for help is viewed as taking care of yourself - not failing at the job.
Because sometimes the call ends, but part of us is still there.
If you’re still carrying the weight... you’re still on scene.

OUR GOAL:
The goal isn’t simply to get people talking about first responder mental health,
It’s to create change that lasts after the presentation is over.
Ultimately, Our goal is to help create healthier responders, healthier families,
stronger peer support systems, and public safety organizations where people can have long, sustainable careers without believing that destroying themselves is simply part of the job.

We Want Responders To Leave Understanding Themselves Better.
We Want Spouses And Families To Understand What May Be Happening Behind The Uniform.
We Want Peers To Recognize When Someone Beside Them May Need Help.
And We Want Leaders To Understand How Culture, Trust, And Psychological Safety Can Either Encourage Someone To Reach Out, Or Keep Them Silent.
